Harry Potter 6 Release Date Delay

Harry Potter fans will just have to wait a few more months to see the latest installment to the film saga, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Alan Horn, President and Chief Operating Officer, Warner Bros.announced that they are moving the release date from Novermber 21, 2008 to July 17, 2009.

Horn stated, “Our reasons for shifting ‘Half-Blood Prince’ to summer are twofold: we know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release, as proven by the success of our last ‘Harry Potter’ film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment. Additionally, like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers’ strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films—changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of. We agreed the best strategy was to move ‘Half-Blood Prince’ to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer.”

To confirm Horn’s announcement, Jeff Robinov, President of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, had this to say: “The release date change does not alter the production schedule for this or future ‘Harry Potter’ films. Post-production on ‘Half-Blood Prince’ was completed on time, and the studio’s release plans for the two-part ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ will not be affected by this change. We know Harry Potter fans are eagerly anticipating seeing the final chapters unfold onscreen. In fact, the good news for them is that the gap will now be shortened between ‘Half-Blood Prince’ and the first part of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.’”

If that isn’t enough to get your undies in a tangle, here’s what David Yates, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Director, added, “It has been a joy to work on ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.’ Dan, Rupert and Emma and all our returning young cast continue to blossom, and our new cast members bring fresh color and life to Hogwarts. Even as we put the finishing touches on this latest film, we are already beginning preparations on the final two films—we start filming in February—and I am excited to bring this remarkable series to the exciting and moving conclusion its loyal fans deserve.”

Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox on Set of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

After only a few weeks since his terrible road accident last July 27, Shia LaBeouf is back on the set shooting for Michael Bay’s upcoming sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen .

Originally, LaBeouf was supposed to sit out for a whole month after he and co-star Isabel Lucas were hit by a Los Angeles driver who ran a red light. The actor underwent surgery on his hand due to a severe injury from the accident. But it seems that he’s doing pretty fine. Then again, if Megan Fox was my co-star, it’d take more than just a few stitches on my hand to keep me from going to work.

Speaking of the sizzling hot temptress, word has it that Michael Bay gave her explicit instructions on what to do on the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen . And that was to simply “look hot.” This piece of news doesn’t do much for Bay’s notoriety for being a chauvinist, since all his movies involve men dragging along hot babes while making everything else explode all around them in phallic bursts of flames. However, this certainly spells good news to all those wanting to see more of Megan Fox, knowing that men (myself included) are running out of new videos and photos of her to gawk at during those nights when we just can’t sleep.

On a recent interview, Megan also expounded on some of the things fans should expect to see come June 26, 2009. According to her, the film is “just going to be a badass movie. It’s just going to be a popcorn-visual-spectacle, summer film.” She also adds that, it’s going to be “as big as the first movie was, this is 10 times as big, 10 times as many set pieces, explosions, and acrobatic stunts.”

However, on a troubling note, she briefly mentions how the plot is still being written on a “day to day basis,” and says, “You know, we’ve been having script meetings, and we’ve been reworking the script, because they wrote it fast because of the writer’s strike. And, we’ve just been going through and trying to do some character stuff for Shia and myself in the middle of this crazy world that they’re in.”

Radiohead Scores For Palahniuk’s Choke

In some movies, the music contributes a lot the the direction of the story. It provokes the transition and tells the audience what to feel. Clark Gregg believes that the music is the orchestrator of the audience’s reaction towards the movie, and being a fan of one of the world’s greatest band Radiohead, he is happy to announce that his film rendition of Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke will have the band’s original songs as its soundtrack.

While writing the movie script for Choke, Gregg kept listening to the band’s first record Pablo Honey over an over again (a teeeeeeny disappointment considering that is the band’s less-liked album). But nevertheless Radiohead saw the film, liked it tremendously and they contributed a song for the soundtrack but apparently they have written a whole score for it, mostly ambient sounds. Gregg being an ultimate fan of the band throughout his artistic growth, was more than ecstatic about it. When director was asked how he feels like having such an honored band provide scoring for his film he sad “I quit believing in my own life at this point! My life is just too incredible to be believable anymore. It’s a living dream.”

Like Clark Gregg, Sophia Coppola is a director who truly believes in this style, both the structure of her movies swayed side by side with music: Lost in Translation which relied deeply on its captivating score (including Carly Simon, The Peaches, Death in Vegas, Brian Rietzell, Jesus and Mary Chain and the Chemical Brothers) and her film adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides’ The Virgin Suicides which has a soundtrack that consist of beautifully arranged electronic pieces by the genre’s premier band Air. Her Lost in Translation star Scarlett Johannson even performed alongside Jesus and Mary Chain in last year’s Coachella Arts and Music Festival.

Chuck Palahniuk’s work include Fight Club, which was turned into the a Hollywood bluckbuster with the same title starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, and many crtically acllaimed novels such as Snuff, Lullaby, Invisible Monsters and Diary. He also inclined to the use of influential music through The Pixies’s song Where Is My Mind during the finale of the feature film Fight Club.
