Seth Rogen to Star as Green Hornet
Hollywood still definitely value the element of surprise with the confirmation that the Superbad and Knocked-Up star Seth Rogen will play the superhero Green Hornet. Sony is excitied to have Seth play the lead on their next blockbuster project.
The comedy star will play rich playboy Britt Reid, who inherits his father’s newspaper and publishing business at fights crimes on nightime with his sidekick, Kato. This is a challenging role for Rogen, because his audiences are used to seeing him deliver funny lines and making a fool out of himself in movies. Will he be able to furnish the role of a matinée avenger without his bulbous stomach or his grouchy beard getting in the way? This might be a great opportunity for Seth to show his range as an actor and a writer.
In addition to the news, it is said that he’s already working on the script with his friend Evan Goldberg who co-wrote Superbad with him. That in mind, The Green Hornet will probably turn out to be an action comedy with lots of puns and wit. Will it go hand-in-hand? That, we’ll have to wait and see. The movie’s release is set on June 25, 2010.
